Our History

Timeless design. Genuine craftsmanship. Since 1899.

The story of Walküre does not begin in a large industrial factory, but with a simple idea. In 1896, Siegmund Paul Meyer founded a small porcelain painting workshop in Bayreuth. Just three years later, the company launched its own production. Since then, Walküre has stood for durable porcelain, clear design and uncompromising quality, created for people who value authenticity.

Progress rooted in tradition

From the very beginning, Walküre was driven by innovation. As early as 1910, the company introduced paid vacation and the first workplace safety measures, which was a bold step at the time. Product development was equally forward-thinking, with heat-resistant cookware and bakeware that gained popularity across the globe.

In the 1950s and 1960s, Walküre modernized its production by replacing round kilns with tunnel kilns and streamlining processes. What remained was the spirit of craftsmanship and the focus on durable, stylish porcelain for gastronomy, hospitality and discerning households.

Design with purpose

Walküre porcelain is not about trends, it is about longevity. The belief that function and form must go hand in hand is embedded in every product. Iconic collections such as ''Alta'' and ''NYNY'' have received international acclaim, including the Red Dot Award, iF Design Award and Coffee Innovations Award.

At Walküre, design is not an end in itself, it is a statement: Beauty comes from purpose, and quality is a principle, not a passing trend.

A new chapter – the same values

In 2021, the Walküre brand was acquired by Friesland Porzellan, a renowned porcelain manufacturer from northern Germany with decades of experience and a deep commitment to quality and tradition.

The most beloved series continue to be made with care, precision, and passion.
